What is a VI Peel?

The VI Peel’s synergistic formula of salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, and phenol makes for powerful exfoliation and anti-aging. The peel is applied for a few hours, during which time it eradicates dirt, oil, debris, dead skin cells, imperfections, blemishes, and impurities. Over the next several days, the skin sloughs off, resulting in a brighter, clearer countenance. The VI Peel not only encourages a transformation at the surface level but also improves cellular renewal and collagen output.

What concerns can be addressed with a VI Peel?

  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Facial redness
  • Inflammation
  • Melasma
  • Lines, wrinkles, and creases
  • Poor skin texture and tone
  • Acne scarring
  • Sunspots
  • Enlarged pores

Who makes a good candidate for a VI Peel?

The VI Peel is safe and appropriate for all skin tones and types, making it a popular and satisfying skincare solution for patients in and beyond Westlake Village. As a medium-depth peel, the VI Peel balances the patient’s need for dramatic results and their desire for a simple skincare solution without anesthesia or needles.

During your detailed, private consultation, our team will conduct a thorough analysis of your skin to ensure the VI Peel is the best treatment modality for your goals. You will receive a customized treatment plan that gets to the root of your skin problems and helps you cultivate a clearer, brighter complexion.

Note that the VI Peel is not typically recommended for pregnant or nursing patients. Those with active skin infections or more advanced signs of aging with overt skin laxity will be advised to seek out an alternative treatment.

What happens during my session?

Prior to your VI Peel, you will receive specific instructions on how to prepare for your session. You may need to pause the use of certain products, especially those containing retinols and acids. You should also avoid laser hair removal and waxing.

The VI Peel itself is a quick treatment performed in the office setting that usually takes around 30 minutes to complete. After the skin is cleansed, the VI Peel solution is applied with a special brush or cotton-tipped applicator in several layers. A mild stinging or tingling sensation may occur at first but the treatment is considered mostly painless. Patients then return home with the solution still active on their skin. In a few hours, it can be washed off.

What will my recovery entail?

Right after the VI Peel, the skin may appear slightly darker, as the unwanted pigment is brought to the surface. If you feel self-conscious, you can use cosmetics to conceal any discoloration for the first day or so. Within around three days, the outermost damaged skin layer will begin peeling off. This phase of recovery can last up to one week.

Patients are free to resume their normal activities immediately after their VI Peel. However, social downtime may be desired while the skin is flaking off. Be sure not to interrupt the peeling process by picking at your skin. Use a daily moisturizer or ointment approved by our team to soothe and soften the complexion. The skin may be especially sensitive after the peeling process, so take care to wear sunblock and avoid harmful UV rays as much as possible.
