An overview of an arm lift
To prepare for arm lift surgery, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Stark will thoroughly explain what you can expect from the procedure during your initial consultation. During that time, they will carefully evaluate your unique needs and make recommendations to ensure an optimal outcome. Using our Touch MD system, our staff will be able to show you examples of patients who have had similar procedures, and most importantly, how the incisions will heal.
To begin your actual surgery, one of our board-certified anesthesiologists will administer general anesthesia to ensure your total comfort and safety. Depending on your needs, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Stark will then perform either a mini arm lift or a traditional upper arm lift.
If you possess a significant amount of excess volume and skin, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Stark will perform an arm lift or full brachioplasty, making a long incision from the underarm to the elbow, and then removing the excess fat and skin that concerns you most.
In general, this procedure is most appropriate for patients who have quickly lost a substantial amount of weight or are experiencing a severe loss of elasticity due to the natural aging process. If you have less excess volume to address, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Stark will likely perform a mini arm lift or limited brachioplasty. A much smaller, less intensive surgery, this option involves a very small incision hidden in the armpit, through which they will remove only excess skin. Regardless of the approach used, Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Stark will end the procedure by trimming away any excess skin and then expertly closing the incisions to minimize scarring.
